Abstract

This work addresses the existing gender gap in the STEAM disciplines (science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics) and the great impact it has on education and the labor sector. 3 independent studies have been carried out. Firstly, the analysis of the results obtained from a questionnaire aimed at Early Childhood, Primary and Secondary teachers, STEAM graduates, Engineering graduates and STEAM students has been carried out to analyze the factors related to the low choice of these studies. and the gender gap existing in them. Secondly, the evolution of STEAM degrees in Castilla y León has been studied, because it is an empty region of Spain seriously affected by the phenomenon of depopulation, to see the trend of first enrollment, first-year enrollment and graduates. in degrees and doctoral programs. Thirdly, the data of those enrolled in Naval and Oceanic Engineering by autonomous community in Spain have been analyzed to see the number of students since the 2015-2016 academic year and how they have evolved until 2022-2023. Therefore, taking into account the results obtained in this research, the importance of implementing educational and labor policies to promote participation in STEAM degrees stands out.
