Abstract
After the Cathedral of Mondonedo was designated National heritage site in 1902, all the works and restorations concerning the former took place under the supervision of the Ministry of Public Instruction and Fine Arts. Nevertheless, in 1904 the Royal Academy of San Fernando, concerned about the fact that the exquisite late-medieval paintings could be threatened by the large works projected for the Cathedral, decided to suspend the latter. The restauration works would start only in 1910, although this time under the supervision of Jose Lorite Kramer, whose proposals as far as the modifications to the original project were concerned faced controversy. The reluctance shown by the local authorities, given the adjustments and changes to be introduced (e.g., installation of stained glass), and the cost overrun the local businesses had to assume would highlight the capitular meetings during the first decade of the XX century.
