Abstract

The canonization of King Fernando III, in 1671, meant for Spain the culmination of a project of identification with counterreformist principles. As a result, the Crown promoted festivities throughout the national territory. In Toledo, thanks to the interaction between civil and religious powers, there was an intense transformation of the streets with multiple ephemeral architectures, in whose execution great personalities such as Juan Carreño de Miranda and Francisco Rizi participated.
