Abstract

Don Vasco de Quiroga was a well-know contemporaneous with Santa Teresa: he was born in Madrigal de las Altas Torres (Ávila). He was able to project a major foundation in Mexico: the Pueblos-Hospital. Don Vasco would share with La Santa a similar enterprise and endeavor character: building up villages around a hospital or infirmary. Apart from the dealings to get the land needed, Don Vasco planned the construction of the buildings of these communities and arranged the organization from the material and social point of view. It is an interesting example of the concern for the poor or the Social Thought at the time of Santa Teresa de Jesús.
